Problems are a part of everyone’s life and everyone has to face them one way or the other. When a person faces problems in life, he/she may go into a state of grief and despair in life. In times of difficulty, distress and grief a Muslim must keep his faith in Allah Almighty. He must ask Allah Almighty to help him out in these difficult times. الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ ۗ أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ

Those who believe and whose hearts find comfort in the remembrance of Allah. Surely in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find comfort.

(Surah Ar-Ra’d, 13:28)

Dua for anxiety and sorrow:

It is narrated by Asma Binte Umais (R.A) that Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) said to me: “Shall I not teach you some words to say when in distress?”

اللهُ اللهُ ربِّي لَا أُشرِكُ به شيئًا

Allah, Allah, Rabbi La Ushriku Bihi Syai’a

“Allah, Allah, my Lord, I do not associate anything with Him”

We end up in a state of grief in life. To cater to this situation one must immediately seek refuge by Allah Almighty and recite the following dua for anxiety and grief.

حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ لآ إلَهَ إلَّا هُوَ، عَلَيْهَ توَكَّلتُ، وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ

“Allah is sufficient for me. There is none worthy of worship but Him. I have placed my trust in Him, and He is the lord of the Majestic Throne.”

Dua of Hazrat Yusuf:

Hazrat Yusuf (A.S) found himself in a state of immense hardship when he was in the stomach of a whale. Dua of Hazrat Yusuf (A.S).

لاَّ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّى كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ

La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz zalimin.

“There is no god but You, exalted are You! Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.”

 Dua for Anxiety During Exams:

Students who have to give exams, and they found themselves in distress must recite dua for anxiety and stress during exams.

يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّوْمُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيْث  

Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum, bi-Rahmatika astagheeth

O Living, O Sustaining, in Your Mercy I seek relief!

“‏ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ ‏”‏ ‏.

Allahumma inni a’uzu bika min jahdil-bala’, wa darki shaqa’, wa su’il-qadha’, wa shamatatil-a’da’

“(O Allah, I seek refuge with You from worry, grief, incapacity, laziness, miserliness, cowardice and being overpowered by (other) men.)”

جو لوگ ایمان رکھتے ہیں اور جن کے دل اللہ کے ذکر سے سکون پاتے ہیں۔ بے شک اللہ کے ذکر سے دلوں کو سکون ملتا ہے۔

اللہ، اللہ، میرا رب، میں اس کے ساتھ کسی چیز کو شریک نہیں کرتا”

میرے لیے اللہ ہی کافی ہے۔ اس کے سوا کوئی عبادت کے لائق نہیں۔ میں نے اس پر بھروسہ کیا ہے اور وہ عرش عظیم کا مالک ہے۔”

تیرے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں، تو پاک ہے! بے شک میں ظالموں میں سے ہو گیا ہوں۔‘‘

(اے اللہ میں تیری پناہ مانگتا ہوں فکر، غم، عاجزی، سستی، کنجوسی، بزدلی اور دوسرے لوگوں کے غلبہ سے)

اے زندہ، اے خود کو برقرار رکھنے والے! تیری رحمت میں عافیت کا طالب ہوں۔
