Istikhara Dua in Arabic:
It is narrated in Sahih Bukhari in 1162 that Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) said: If anyone of you wants to fulfill a task, he shall pray 2 Rakkahs apart from farz prayers and then read the following prayer that is Istikhara ki dua in Arabic.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ وَأَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيمِ فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلَا أَقْدِرُ وَتَعْلَمُ وَلَا أَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ خَيْرٌ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي فَاقْدُرْهُ لِي وَيَسِّرْهُ لِي ثُمَّ بَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ وَإِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ شَرٌّ فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي فَاصْرِفْهُ عَنِّي وَاصْرِفْنِي عَنْهُ وَاقْدُرْ لِيَ الْخَيْرَ حَيْثُ كَانَ ثُمَّ ارْضِنِي بِه
The above-mentioned dua is not only mentioned in Sahih Muslim but dawat-e-Islami has also promoted this Istikharay ki Dua.

This is one of the essential and most crucial parts of a Muslim’s life because marriage is a lifetime decision hence, in this regard we must take guidance from Allah Almighty. Marriage is a personal decision and a Muslim should try to do Istikhara by himself. To perform Istikhara ki Dua for marriage purposes one must do the following steps to perform it as follows. - Make sure you are tidy.
- At, the night before you sleep you must offer 2 Rakkah’s of Istikhara.
- Recite Surah-e-Kafiroon after Surah-e-Fatiha in the first Rakkah and second Rakkah recite Surah-e-Ikhlaas.
- Once you are done with the Rakkahs offer the Dua of Istikhara.
- Think of your work that has to be done in between the prayer.
- Lastly, sleep facing the Kaabah. You will most likely end up having the answer in your dream. If this doesn’t happen try again for seven days.
